About Our Library We are open 8:00 a.m. - 3:00
p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday. Students don't have to wait
until next class library time to return and check out books. They
can come in daily during the 10:00 recess and after school. Students
with internet permission slips on file at our school, may use the student
computers in the library for researching school projects after school.
Hedrick School Library
provides books and services for more than 550 kindergarten through sixth
grade students, their teachers and staff. Each class is scheduled
weekly for thirty minutes. During that time, students check out
books and have a story time, book talk, or mini lesson on how to better use
their library. Students may also use the library the morning recess
and after school each day.
Library books are checked out
for one week at a time. If the students wish to keep their books
longer, they may bring them back at the end of that week and renew
them.
Save Our
Stories!!!
Some of our books
have been drowning! Usually it is because a
drink was spilled on it or a drink bottle leaked in a backpack.
Sometimes a book can still be used if it is dried out properly and in
time. Other times the book has to be replaced because it is too
damaged and mildewed! Please do not have drinks or drink containers
near our library or school books so that we may use them much
longer. Thank you.
Perfect Returns
Every week
when a class comes to the library, they have a chance to have Perfect Returns. That means that if all
the students turn in their books on time (they must have them when they
come for library), the class earns their name on the "Perfect Returns"
board, a certificate, and their teacher gets to select a book for their
classroom library to keep.
When Are Our Books Due? These are the regularly
scheduled days your student's class will come to the
library. Books are checked out for one week at a time, but are
renewable. Students are reminded to please bring back a book they
wish to finish reading, so they can renew it for another week.
