This list of words contains over 150 of the most commonly used words in reading and writing. It is essential that all students be able to identify these words without hesitation. They are considered "Sight Words" - words that may not follow simple phonetic patterns but that occur in literature selections starting with beginning readers for Kindergarten and 1st grade. These words should be mastered by 2nd grade.

Knowing these words is crucial to your child's success.
